The website and CLI read the same catalog, so command installs and manual downloads stay consistent.

Copy a command
Run npx petscodex install byte. The installer resolves the package by slug and places the pet files for you.

Download manually
Use a pet card download button to get a zip, inspect it, unzip it, and move the pet folder into your Codex pets directory.

Activate in Codex
After either method, open Codex desktop and select the pet in Settings > Appearance > Pets.
Install pet
Codex pets are currently supported on macOS and Windows.
Option 1: Fast CLI install
Copy this command and run it in your terminal. This installs the pet files for you.
npx petscodex install pet
Command copied. Paste it in your terminal.
Option 2: Manual zip import
Use this if you prefer to inspect and place the files yourself.
1Download the zip package and unzip it. The folder contains pet.json and spritesheet.webp.

Move the unzipped pet folder into your Codex pets directory. macOS: ~/.codex/pets/<pet-id>Windows: %USERPROFILE%\.codex\pets\<pet-id>
Activate after either method: open Codex desktop and choose the pet in Settings > Appearance > Pets. Restart Codex first if the new pet does not appear.
